Who We Are
We are a passionate community of volunteers dedicated to preserving a proud piece of American naval history for a vital new mission. Our flagship, the historic Sea Horse, is a former U.S. Navy vessel that now serves as a living classroom for Sea Scout Ship 243. Here, local youth receive hands-on maritime training, build lifelong leadership skills, and develop a deep respect for the sea.
As a 100% volunteer-run organization through Friends of 243, we operate with zero salaries and zero overhead. Every single donation goes directly into maintaining our vessel's safety and enriching the Sea Scout program. Guided by experienced mentors who generously donate their time and expertise, we work together to keep this historic ship afloat and our youth empowered.
